Connecting international philanthropy to Brazilian impact organizations with purpose, strategy, and trust.
On one side are individuals, families, foundations, and companies around the world who want to exercise their philanthropy with purpose, clarity, and impact in Brazil.
On the other side are Brazilian civil society organizations filled with innovation, resilience, and transformative potential — but that often face barriers to accessing international funding, whether due to language, cultural differences, or lack of connections.
Our mission is to bring these two universes closer together with care, strategy, and trust.

Because we combine decades of experience in the nonprofit sector with solid careers in the corporate world, a balance between purpose and pragmatism.
Because we have a broad network of contacts and a respected reputation within the
philanthropic ecosystem between Brazil and the United States.
Because we roll up our sleeves: we visit projects, listen to local leaders, and personally engage with the causes you support.
Because we have the expertise to lead your project from A to Z, with the flexibility to focus on what matters most, and, when necessary, to suggest solutions that elevate results.
More than consultants, we are journey partners. We value in-person connection, eye to eye conversations, and the building of trust.
Katu (noun, from ancient Tupi)

For donors, engaging in philanthropy is more than an act of generosity, it is a journey of self-knowledge, awareness, and growth.
We help our clients clarify their values, define their goals, and turn them into strategies that generate real impact.

On the other side ofthis bridge, we work with Brazilian civil society organizations that seek to raise funds in the United States and other countries.
We help these organizations develop the tools, narratives, and strategies needed to attract global support.

Katu’s work has been essential at a strategic moment of growth and institutional strengthening for our organization. With social sensitivity and a forward-looking vision, Katu has helped build meaningful connections with international partners and supporters who share our commitment to initiatives that create lasting social impact.
For Instituto Mulher em Construção, this partnership represents trust, momentum, and new possibilities. By opening doors, building bridges, and mobilizing support, Katu is helping us enter a new phase of expansion — one that will allow us to reach even more women with opportunities for training, autonomy, and dignity.
Mauricio Morato is a leader who brings together strategic vision, international experience, and a genuine commitment to social transformation. Beyond the numbers, his role as an advisor to Instituto Pensando Bem has been instrumental in broadening our perspective and strengthening our decisionmaking, helping ensure that our mission is fulfilled.
I met Mauricio Morato through the Gerando Falcões network at an important moment in Pisada do Sertão’s journey. Even while living in the United States, he had the sensitivity to recognize the value of an organization born in the Alto Sertão region of Paraíba, in a small town of just 4,000 people. It was Mauricio who facilitated the connection that led to our first philanthropic sponsor, opening doors that had previously seemed very far from our reality.
Over time, Mauricio came to see our work firsthand, and this relationship grew stronger. More than a supporter, he became someone who challenges us to think bigger, bringing ideas and strategic guidance that have strengthened Pisada do Sertão. Today, he serves on our Advisory Board and has been a key partner in our institutional development, fundraising efforts, and the expansion of initiatives such as Vila do Sertão, helping connect the Sertão to global opportunities.
I worked with Mauricio (affectionately known by everyone as Mau) for several years, and during that time we built a very strong partnership. Even though we now live in different countries, we remain connected by a shared purpose: to do good and help build a more just Brazil. I had the opportunity to witness firsthand the quality and depth of his relationships with major donors and foundations, both in Brazil and internationally.
Mau has a sophisticated understanding of the global philanthropic landscape and a rare ability to build genuine relationships with donors and institutional partners. His international network, built with credibility and years of experience in the sector, makes a real difference in connecting Brazilian organizations with international donors and foundations. In addition, he combines social sensitivity with professional rigor—qualities that are essential for strengthening missiondriven organizations.
Mauricio and I have been friends for nearly ten years. We met through an initiative by BrazilFoundation that brought together young Brazilian leaders in the United States, and since then our relationship has grown into a friendship built on shared values, trust, and a common desire to promote social transformation.
Throughout this journey, we have shared experiences that today impact hundreds of thousands of people through Vozes das Periferias. I am confident that, through Katu Brasil, Mauricio will continue expanding pathways to transform lives—reflecting his essence of always moving forward while extending a hand so that others can move forward as well.
